A national event that promotes both popular enjoyment and volunteer conservation of public lands. Last year almost two-hundred thousand people volunteered at over 2,000 sites nationwide. Many public lands give volunteers vouchers for one free future entry in exchange for their service.

Additionally, many public lands have fee-free days on this date and allow free entry to all individuals.
