The Democracy Commitment (TDC) is modeled after the American Democracy Project (ADP), a national coalition of public state colleges and universities committed to civic and democratic work, sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in partnership with The New York Times.
All TDC members are welcome to the current initiatives of ADP.
The American Democracy Project’s Civic Engagement in Action Series include the following national initiatives:
- America’s Future
- Civic Agency
- Deliberative Polling
- eCitizenship
- Political Engagement Project (PEP)
- Global Challenges (formally known as 7 Revolutions)
- Stewardship for Public Lands

The first signature initiative of The Democracy Commitment is Engage the Election: 2012. This initiative is a push for our TDC member institutions to participate in political forums and townhalls, voter registration drives, voter education forums, along with many other on-campus opportunities, as well as a webinar series highlighting TDC national partners and their resources available to TDC member institutions. For more information, check out our webpage; to discuss ideas and take polls, visit our Facebook page. To download our Engage the Election: 2012 one-pager, click here.
